Union County Police Arrest One of Two Juvenile Suspects in Cedar Brook Park Stabbing

One suspect remains at large following the June incident in Plainfield, NJ

On June 20, 2025, the Union County Police Department responded to a stabbing incident at Cedar Brook Park in Plainfield, New Jersey.

 

A juvenile victim had sustained a knife wound to the face.

 

The altercation occurred in the parking lot of the Plainfield Village Apartments on Randolph Road, adjacent to Tëmike Park.

 

Detectives Roman and Gray from the Union County Police Investigations Division led a thorough investigation over several months.

 

They identified two juvenile suspects from Plainfield, alleged gang members linked to multiple incidents.

 

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office approved charges against both individuals.

 

On September 23, 2025, one of the juveniles surrendered to authorities.

 

The suspect was arrested, charged, processed, and remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a Superior Court hearing.

 

Charges include second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault with a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

 

The second suspect remains at large, with an active warrant issued for their arrest.

 

Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the apprehension.

 

This incident has raised concerns among Plainfield residents about youth violence and gang activity in the area.

 

Community leaders are calling for increased engagement and preventive measures to address these issues.

 

In response, local organizations are planning outreach programs aimed at providing support and alternatives for at-risk youth.

 

The Union County Police Department continues to investigate and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
