South Plainfield Essay Contest in Plainfield, New Jersey

Highlighting the South Plainfield anniversary and Plainfield New Jersey events

In celebration of its centennial anniversary, South Plainfield is inviting local students to participate in a special essay contest.

High schoolers and 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to reflect on the borough's motto: "Vision – Family – Industry."

Participants should explore what this motto means to them, how it has shaped the community's foundation, and its relevance today.

Submissions are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Winners will be honored by Borough Clerk Amy Antonides and the Mayor and Borough Council on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall.

Prizes include $150, $100, and $75 gift cards for the top three essays in each category, generously provided by a local news outlet.

For full contest rules and eligibility, please visit the borough's official website.

For questions, contact Borough Clerk Amy Antonides at 908-226-7606.

In addition to the essay contest, the area offers a variety of events to engage the community.

From February 23 to March 7, 2026, the "Blizzard of '26 Virtual Run" allows participants to run a 5K at their convenience, promoting fitness and community spirit.

On March 7 and 8, the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison will host The Chocolate Expo, a delightful event for families and chocolate enthusiasts.

These events, along with the essay contest, provide residents with opportunities to celebrate and engage with the community during this milestone year.
