Community Gathers to Promote Fire Safety Awareness |
The City of Plainfield, in collaboration with the Plainfield Fire Department, is set to host its annual Fire Prevention Fair this Friday, October 3, from 6 to 9 p.m., right in front of City Hall.
With a favorable weather forecast, the event promises an engaging evening for families and residents.
This year's theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home”, addresses the growing concerns surrounding lithium-ion batteries.
Notably, in 2023, New York City reported 268 fires linked to these batteries, often from e-bikes, resulting in 18 fatalities.
The fair will feature a variety of attractions, including fire safety demonstrations, inflatables, cotton candy, popcorn, face painting, and other children's activities.
Community resources will also be available to provide valuable information and support.
For more details, residents can contact 908-753-3446.
In addition to the Fire Prevention Fair, Plainfield offers a vibrant lineup of events this October.
On October 11, the 16th Annual Oktoberfest at Forest Lodge in nearby Warren will take place, featuring live German music, a DJ, traditional German cuisine, and family-friendly activities.
Furthermore, the duCret Center of Art in Plainfield is hosting a Watercolor Painting: Fall Leaves Workshop on October 11, providing an opportunity for art enthusiasts to explore their creativity.
These events highlight the community's commitment to safety, culture, and the arts.
Residents are encouraged to participate and enjoy the diverse offerings throughout the month. |
