Plainfield Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Watchung Shooting

Plainfield Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge in Watchung Shooting

Incident on Route 22 Leads to Arrest and Multiple Charges

Somerville, NJ – A 20-year-old man from Plainfield has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident outside a business on Route 22 in Watchung.

 

Naseem Eure faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree endangering another person.

 

The attempted murder charge carries a potential minimum sentence of 10 years in state prison.

 

On March 17, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Watchung police responded to reports of gunshots near a business on Route 22 West.

 

Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of gunfire, including damage to the building.

 

Investigations revealed that a vehicle approached a pedestrian walking along the sidewalk outside the business.

 

The passenger door opened, and a shot was fired in the direction of the individual.

 

Multiple patrons were outside the business at the time, but no injuries were reported.

 

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Watchung Police Department identified Eure as the passenger who allegedly fired the shot.

 

He was arrested without incident in Plainfield on June 2.

 

Somerset County Superior Court Judge Angela Borkowski denied Eure's release prior to trial.

 

He is scheduled for a pre-indictment conference on August 8 before Judge Robert Wilson.
